idfg-nnokkentved
Boys and girls ages 8 to 14 interested in learning about fishing for steelhead are encouraged to register for a free clinic sponsored by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and Lewiston Parks and Recreation. The clinic includes an evening classroom session from 7 to 8:30 p.m., October 22 at the Lewiston Community Center, 1424 Main Street. Topics include tactics and techniques for catching steelhead, basic steelhead biology, stocking programs by Idaho Fish and Game, river safety, and cost and selection of fishing equipment. Then Saturday, October 24, each young angler will be paired with an experienced adult angler and practice their newly developed skills on the Snake or Clearwater River. "This is a great opportunity to learn how to fish for steelhead and have some fun," said Scott Putnam, of Idaho Fish and Game. The clinic is free and limited to 15 youth anglers. To register, contact the Parks and Recreation Office at 208-746-2313.
