Steelhead Left to Waste; Public's Help Sought

Fish and Game is asking the public for information regarding the dumping of nine hatchery steelhead near Emmett. Citizens against Poaching is offering a reward for information in the case and callers may remain anonymous. Contact CAP at 1-800-632-5999, 24 hours a day. The steelhead were discovered on Tuesday, dumped adjacent to the Gem Cycle Park entrance road just off Highway 16 near Emmett, Fish and Game officer Dave McGonigal said. "It's apparent that no attempt was made to salvage the fish," he said. McGonigal hopes to learn more from an eyewitness or others who have knowledge of the wanton waste case. "I would very much like to visit with anyone who might have information regarding these fish," McGonigal said. In addition to the CAP hotline, persons may also contact their local Fish and Game office with information regarding the case.
