Opinions on Fisheries Management Sought for Soldiers Meadow Reservoir

idfg-mdemick
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) wants to hear angler's opinions on how to move forward with managing the fishery on Soldiers Meadow Reservoir. Soldiers Meadow Reservoir is a 100 acre irrigation storage reservoir located about 20 miles south of Lewiston, Idaho. On November 7, 2013, the IDFG renovated Soldiers Meadow Reservoir to remove illegally stocked fish that were negatively influencing the quality of the fishery that occurred there. Now, IDFG wants input from the public on how to proceed. Currently, there are three other reservoirs within 15 miles of Soldiers Meadow Reservoir that all provide fishing opportunities for hatchery rainbow trout and warm water fishes. We now have the ability with Soldiers Meadow Reservoir to do something different and give anglers a new experience. To get your opinions, IDFG will have a public meeting on March 25 starting at 6:00 PM at the Lewiston IDFG office, 3316 16th St. At this meeting, IDFG will provide participants with information on the reservoir's history and its characteristics that could potentially influence the success of different fisheries. All are encouraged to participate in discussions and give their opinions on how to move forward. Those unable to attend the meeting can provide their comments to Joe DuPont by phone (208-799-5010) mail (Idaho Department of Fish and Game, 3316 16th Street, Lewiston, ID, 83501), or e-mail (joe.dupont@idfg.idaho.gov).
