IDAHO FALLS – Fish and Game biologists are ready to begin the public scoping phase of the big game season setting process, which is done every two years.

According to Regional Wildlife Manager Curtis Hendricks, “A key point for the public to remember is the intent of these initial scoping meetings is for the department to share information regarding big game populations across the region and identify known issues or objectives where hunters should anticipate seeing some proposed changes.  Additionally, these scoping meetings are where hunters identify opportunities or adjustments that they would like to see addressed by the department with regard to seasons and harvest."

After the first round of scoping meetings, the region will develop proposals that incorporate the comments from the public with the goals set by the department and specific species management plans.

These finalized proposals will be available at the beginning of February, and people should watch for announcements that identify where and how to provide specific comments on proposals.
