IDFG Sets Meetings To Present Proposed Big Games Seasons

IDAHO FALLS – Biologists from the Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDFG) are ready to begin the public comment phase of their big game season setting process by heading out to present to the public the proposals they are considering moving forward on.  These proposals were created after reviewing big game population data collected in the past month and by meeting with sportsmen in the region in January.

According to Regional Wildlife Manager Curtis Hendricks, “I would just stress that we are at the point in the process where we are coming out with season proposals and we need to get input on what people think about the proposals. What they can support and what they can’t and if there are slight tweaks that would make the proposals more agreeable. “

“It is important that the public knows that we are monitoring survival of deer and elk and that if things change later in the year we can still make adjustments to permit levels,” said Hendricks.

MEETINGS

Wednesday, February 15: IDFG Regional Office, 4279 Commerce Circle, Idaho Falls.

February 16, 2017: Butte County High School Library, 120 N Water Street, Arco

All meetings start at 6:30 PM

Season proposals will also be available for review and comment on the IDFG website at http://idfg.idaho.gov around February 8.  The deadline for submitting comments goes through midnight February 26.  The website provides a convenient way for people to review the proposals and provide their comments without having to travel to a meeting. All comments received will be summarized and presented to the Idaho Fish & Game Commission prior to their March 15-16 meeting in Boise when big game seasons will be set.

Individuals with disabilities may request meeting accommodations by contacting Curtis Hendricks at IDFG at 525-7290 or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-3529 (TDD) or e-mail at curtis.hendricks@idfg.idaho.gov.  Individuals not able to attend, but wishing to comment may do so by regular mail to IDFG / 4279 Commerce Circle in Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401.
