Hunter-Bowhunter Education Combo Course & Field Day offered in Salmon

idfg-mdemick

Beginning hunters interested in pursuing wild turkey this spring or applying for a big game controlled hunt are encouraged to register for an upcoming course in Salmon.

An instructor-led hunter & bowhunter combination course is scheduled in Salmon Feb. 25 from 7-8 pm, Feb. 28 from 9 am-3 pm, March 3 from 7-9 pm, and March 6 from 9 am-3 pm. Designed for youth 9 years of age or anyone new to hunting, this course will certify students in both hunter and bowhunter education.

Another option for hunter education certification is the online course where students complete the course at their convenience, but are required to pass a field day and exam before they can be certified. A field day is scheduled in Salmon on February 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The online course is designed for older students with good reading comprehension.

Both courses will be held at the Idaho Fish and Game office in Salmon at 99 Highway 93 North. To register or for more details, go online to Fish and Game’s website at https://idfg.idaho.gov/hunt/education, or visit the Fish and Game office.

Anyone born after January 1st, 1975 must complete a hunter education course as a prerequisite to purchasing a hunting license - and a hunting license is required to apply for a controlled hunt.
