Handguns 101: A Fundamentals Workshop to be offered at Farragut Public Shooting Range

This workshop is for new gun owners with minimal or no experience with handguns and those considering a first time handgun purchase

Under the direction of NRA certified instructors, most of whom served as law enforcement officers, participants will learn several handgun basics. Participants must be age 18 or older and pre-registration is required. 

Topics include:

  • handgun types
  • common terms and definitions related to handguns and shooting
  • safe handling of firearms
  • loading and unloading
  • ammunition types
  • proper ammunition for your gun
  • muzzle and trigger control
  • sight alignment  
  • recreational shooting sports
  • safe home gun storage
  • shooting range rules 

Participants will have an opportunity to participate in live fire activities. If you have your own firearm, bring it, along with your own eye and ear protection, and one box of factory ammunition. No live ammunition will be allowed in the classroom. NO RELOADS ALLOWED.

If you don't have a firearm, experienced instructors can guide you in selecting the proper firearm for you. 

 

 

Total cost of the workshop is $9.75 (which includes a processing fee of $1.75) payable online or at the door. Space is limited to 20 participants.

Class will be at the Farragut Public Shooting Range from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PDT. There will be a lunch break from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. You are welcome to bring your lunch or dine locally.
