Idaho Fish and Game

Fish for Free With a Fish and Game Officer

idfg-nnokkentved
Conservation officers with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game want to take you fishing-for free. Join them from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Johnson Reservoir near Preston. You don't need a fishing license or even a fishing pole at this event. That's because Fish and Game officers from the Southeast Region will be bringing the Take Me Fishing Trailer. It's loaded with fishing poles, tackle, and bait for use by the public for free on a first-come, first-served basis. And, if you register at the trailer, you don't even need a license to fish. Come out to this unique "meet and greet" where you can fish with the Fish and Game officers and enjoy a free hot dog lunch prepared by them. There will also be a free raffle for some great prizes, including tackle boxes and fishing poles. Don't know how to fish? Those new to the sport can receive assistance with basic fishing skills, from tying knots to casting to reeling in a feisty fish. And the Take Me Fishing Trailer isn't just for children either. Everyone is welcome. If you can't make the officers' event, the Take Me Fishing Trailer is making other stops in southeast Idaho this summer to help you "reel" in some fun. Fishing equipment and instruction is provided at each event free of charge.
