Idaho Fish and Game

Fish and Game News Available

idfg-mcoleman
Hot off the press, the Idaho Fish and Game News quarterly tabloid is now available at license vendors and Fish and Game offices statewide. This issue is a special report on Conservation Sciences - the Fish and Game program responsible for managing species not normally hunted. It includes articles on conservation issues, and on who pays for species and habitat conservation and why. "In the natural world, everything is connected," trophy species manager Dale Toweill writes in an article titled "Why Hunters Support Conservation." In the article he notes that hunters funded the wildlife restoration projects of the last century. The key to that effort has been habitat restoration and conservation. The trouble today is that the relative number of hunters is shrinking, while the number of people who enjoy watching wildlife is growing. Yet it continues to be primarily hunters who pay for conservation efforts. The tabloid includes other articles about some of those conservation efforts, and efforts to learn more about rare animals and their habitat in Idaho. The 12-page Fish and Game News is provided free of charge to the public.
