Fish and Game Communication Efforts Reap Awards

idfg-nnokkentved
The science oriented public television program "Dialogue for Kids" recently won two regional Emmy awards for their fall 2006 series, which included "Bird Migration," a show written and produced by Idaho Department of Fish and Game personnel. This is one of the television industry's top awards. Dialogue for Kids won an Emmy for best children-teen program, and "D4K Web Extra" won an Emmy in the Advanced Media category. This is a new award for programming developed for broadcast on the Internet rather than television. Fish and Game cooperates with Idaho Public Television on the series of science shows that air the third Tuesday of every month during the traditional school year. It is a call-in format that includes an introduction video followed by scientists who answer students' questions live on the air. Past episodes can be viewed at: http://idptv.state.id.us/dialogue4kids/. Fish and Game also received several awards form the Idaho Press Club, including best news series for "From Hatchery to Hook" about Idaho's fish hatcheries, and "Wildlife on the Move," featuring stories about fish and wildlife migration challenges. Also recognized with awards were the video "A Sense of Place" produced to kick off a two-day Land Use Summit in September 2006, and the media campaign for the Idaho Bird Observatory.
