idfg-mdemick
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is looking for volunteers to help plant sagebrush and bitterbrush seedlings this spring at a number of locations across southern Idaho. The plantings are an effort to restore mule deer winter range devastated by wild fires in the past few years. The native shrubs provide food and shelter to a variety of wildlife including big game, sage grouse and other upland birds, as well as songbirds and small mammals. Volunteer planting projects begin on Saturday, March 29 and continue each Saturday through April 19 at the following: - March 29, Blair Fire north of King Hill - April 5, Big Cottonwood WMA west of Oakley - April 12, Point Ranch fire south of Rogerson - April 19, Big Cottonwood WMA west of Oakley Planting tools and materials will be provided. For more information regarding these plantings or to sign up as a volunteer, please contact David Harper at 208-324-4359 or david.harper@idfg.idaho.gov.
