Fall Chinook Harvest Season Closed

idfg-mcoleman
Salmon fishing in Idaho is over for the year; the fall Chinook harvest season on the Snake River closed Saturday, October 31. The season opened September 1, on the Snake River between Lewiston and Hells Canyon Dam. As of October 25, anglers had caught and kept 110 marked adults and 554 jack fall Chinook in the Snake River, for a total of 664 fish. Hatchery-origin fish are marked with a clipped adipose fin. This year, more than 14,000 adult fall hatchery-origin Chinook and more than 40,000 jacks crossed Lower Granite Dam, many of them returned to the Snake River above Lewiston. The adult return is lower that the pre-season forecast, and the jack return is unusually large.
