Wasted meat dumped nearby on Blanchard Cutoff Road

Blanchard, Idaho- A cow elk and white-tailed doe were illegally shot near the Idaho, Washington border the night of April 17. Officials are asking anyone with information to call the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at 1-800-632-5999. A reward of up to $2,500 is available for information that leads to a citation.

Between approximately 10 p.m. on and 2 a.m., the animals were shot three miles west of the town of Blanchard, in a field off Blanchard-Elk Road. The quarters were removed then dumped off Blanchard Cutoff Road, east of Highway 41.

“It was a senseless crime,” said Senior Conservation Officer Doug Meyer. Necropsies revealed both animals would have produced offspring in the next couple of months.

Officers from Fish and Game and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are working cooperatively on this case that straddles the state border. Callers to the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline can remain anonymous.
