Clearwater Region Seeks Comments on Chinook Season

Idaho Fish and Game plans public open house meetings in the Clearwater Region to get public comments to help shape this year's Chinook salmon seasons. Fish and Game fishery personnel will present information on this year's Chinook run forecast and discuss strategies on how to best manage the fish. The three open house meetings begin at 6 p.m. and end after all questions are answered:

• Lewiston: March 4, Fish and Game office, 3316 16th Street.
• Orofino: March 5, Fish and Game Clearwater Hatchery, 118 Hatchery Roe Drive, located northwest of Ahsahka Bridge.
• Riggins: March 6 (6 p.m. Mountain Time), Best Western Salmon Rapids Lodge, 1010 S. Main Street.

Fish and Game hopes to hear from anglers regarding the season strategies anglers prefer most. Pre-season Idaho Chinook salmon return estimates are lower than past seasons, making season structure changes more likely.
