Q. When is the application period for moose controlled hunts? What happens if you win a Super Hunt for moose or a Super Hunt Combo and get drawn for a controlled hunt? A. Moose controlled hunt applications can be submitted starting April Fool's Day through April 30. Super Hunt applications for deer, elk, pronghorn, moose, and the combo package are being accepted now through May 31. The first Super Hunt drawing is held around June 15. We will then again accept super hunt applications from June 1 through August 10 for the second drawing held around August 15. Entering the Super Hunt drawing does not affect applying for or holding controlled hunt tags. Super Hunt tags are in addition to any general and controlled hunt tags a hunter has applied for or may already hold. Super Hunt tag winners may harvest moose regardless of any previous harvest of moose in Idaho.
