Apply for Bear, Turkey Hunts Jan. 15

The application period for spring controlled hunts for black bear and wild turkey opens January 15 and runs through February 15. Hunters can apply at any Fish and Game license vendor or office, or over the phone at 1-800-824-3729, 1-800-554-8685 or the internet on the Fish and Game website, www2.state.id.us/fishgame. Application blanks can be downloaded from the website and printed from the Fish and Game web site, filled in and mailed to IDGF, Licensing Section, P.O. Box 25, Boise, ID 83707. The application fee is $6.50 per person, and all applicants must have a valid hunting license in order to apply. If you apply by internet or phone, you will be charged a convenience fee of three percent of the transaction plus $3.50. This year there are several youth-only controlled hunts available to hunters age 15 or younger. Check the rules for dates and locations. The spring bear controlled hunt information for 2004 spring seasons is found in the 2003 big game rules booklet, still available statewide. Controlled hunt application worksheets are included in the rules booklets. Turkey booklets will be delivered to vendors soon. Both are available on the Fish and Game website.
