In the aftermath of a prolonged winter, everyone is anxious to get outdoors. Enjoy the spring-like weather, but remember that portions of Boise River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) remain closed to visitors.
This is perhaps the most critical time period for big game animals. Fat stores are at their lowest, as deer and elk wait for spring green up. Only a small amount of unnecessary disturbance by persons ignoring the WMA closure could be the difference between life and death for some animals.
Fortunately, there are miles of open trails across the Boise Foothills. Please use those until spring really does arrive for everyone and everything.
