History
The Magic Valley Region has significant history of winter feeding and has an active Winter Feeding Advisory Committee.
March 6, 2017 status report
Emergency winter feeding in the areas around Carey and Picabo is going well. With recent snow and colder weather, many elk that left the feeding sites the prior week have returned. The vast majority of deer being fed have moved to more suitable habitat. Winter feeding of deer has ended at many sites but last week a new feed site was established for deer at the base of Quigley Canyon in Hailey. The feed site was established to bait deer away from residential areas.
Totals: 17 feed sites, 625 deer, 1533 elk
