Winter feeding last occurred in the late 90’s in the Stanley area.

Warmer temperatures this week has opened up more winter range and elk are moving to higher elevations situated on south-facing slopes. Snow measurements and temperatures have been gathered all winter in the Sawtooth Basin and in the area around North Fork. To date, the Salmon Region has not met the criteria for initiating winter feeding at either location.
