The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking an Office Specialist 2. This position will be located at our Upper Snake Regional Office located in Idaho Falls, ID. This is a year-round temporary non-benefited position expected to work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
- Provide front-line customer service and multi-tasking functions that may include greeting or screening visitors and callers, answering regulation, map, and hunt unit questions; selling hunting and fishing licenses, tags, and permits; providing hunter education assistance; suggesting information about other options and services; distributing booklets, brochures, maps, and other informational material
- Provide customer service via phone to both external customers and internal staff members.
- Perform a wide range of office support functions using independent judgment in applying existing policies, rules, legislation, and procedure to complete assignments.
- Respond to non-routine inquiries and explain department services, policies, procedures and rational for decisions to customers.
- May perform office support duties such as composing correspondence, creating, reviewing, and processing documents and records.
- Issuing items based on mailed in requests, auditing returned documents, electronically indexing, and filing documents.
- Identifying and correcting errors and omissions on documents received from staff, departments and/or public.
- Maintain records.
Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)
- Good knowledge of rules of effective business English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. (This is typically obtained by completing a high school or college English course OR at least six months of experience applying these concepts OR successfully completed a nine-month to one year office administration course beyond high school.)
- Experience using alphabetical, numerical, or subject filing systems to include determining file names, setting up new files, classifying, labeling, filing, and retrieving. (This is typically obtained by completing an office occupations course which included hands-on experience in each of the areas listed, OR approximately six months of full-time work experience using and maintaining filing systems.)
- Experience reviewing documents for compliance with established procedures. (This is typically obtained by work where you were responsible for ensuring forms were properly completed OR successful completion of a nine-month to one year office administration course beyond high school.)
- Experience using a computer to enter and retrieve information. (Typically gained by six months of experience.)
- Experience answering a business telephone using knowledge of business telephone procedures and etiquette. (Typically gained by six months of experience.)
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
The ideal candidate must be willing to assist customers with issues such as road kills, injured or orphaned animals, depredation problems, live traps, and pest advice; as well as a willingness to handle harvested animals. Have a strong interest in serving the mission of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, and will have knowledge and an appreciation for hunting, fishing, and trapping activities.
