The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a lead Fisheries Technician to serve as part of our regional fisheries management crew. The incumbent will be responsible for leading a small crew conducting various field projects and fishery surveys on streams and reservoirs in the Magic Valley Region. This position includes benefits with a total of 8 months of employment.
Temporary housing may be available upon request.
Early April through December (not to exceed 1385 hours in a 12-month period)
Extended travel will be required at times to remote locations for fish sampling operations. This position involves walking up to ten miles a day over rugged terrain carrying a large backpack and along stream banks; standing and working in cold water for up to eight hours per shift; lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 60 pounds with occasional lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds for short distances; and working in inclement weather conditions. Successful applicants need to possess excellent independent decision-making skills.
