Draft Idaho Mountain Lion Management Plan 2024-2029

Idaho Fish and Game is seeking comments on its Draft Idaho Mountain Lion Management Plan 2024-2029. The plan will provide guidance for staff to implement management actions that will aid in the protection and management of mountain lion populations and guide harvest recommendations.

Review the draft plan below and submit comments by August 23, 2023, at 6 p.m. MDT.

The final draft of the plan will be presented for the Commission's approval at their November 2023 meeting.

Draft Idaho Mountain Lion Management Plan 2024-2029

The plan identifies issues that affect mountain lions and their management. This plan will function as the action plan for Idaho mountain lion management through 2029 by guiding IDFG in annual work plan development and program prioritization and provide direction for development of regulatory recommendations. The plan will provide guidance to IDFG to implement programs that support mountain lion conservation and management. 

The plan includes management direction for the following topics:

  • Hunter opportunity and harvest management
  • Population monitoring 
  • Human-lion conflicts and livestock depredations
  • Predation management
  • Education and outreach

Address items of support or concern in the "general comments" section.  We are only asking for review and comments on the draft management plan.
