The revamping of Black's Creek Public Shooting Range's Upper Silhouette Range (USR) has begun! When the project is complete, both the USR and Black's Creek's popular main range will be able to operate safely at the same time.
Crews have been busy disassembling the USR cover and removing the concrete firing line. Idaho Power crews will be out the week of August 19 to drop in new power poles and relocate the power line into Black's Creek Range. After that, dirt work on the USR will begin, with the goal of lowering the USR firing line by at least seven feet.
Lowering the firing line and reconstructing the earthen berm on the east side of the USR will eliminate line of sight issues between this range and the main range allowing the two ranges to operate safely at the same time.
This is just one major improvement to Black's Creek Public Shooting Range that visitors will enjoy in the coming months. Watch for more projects in the weeks ahead and come on out to Black's Creek for some recreational shooting!
