Hunter Education and Reservist Volunteers of the Year

idfg-talberti

Each year we recognize Hunter Ed and Reservist volunteers of the years. These people have dedicated themselves to helping Idaho Fish and Game and the sportsmen.

This year’s Magic Valley Regional Hunter Educations Instructor of the Year of the year award is presented to Ed Hartman.

Ed Hartman taught six hunter education classes last year, plus he assisted in three other hunter education classes including two day camps we did last summer.

He also helped teach numerous online hunter education field days with other instructors. Since Ed Hartman started teaching in December of 2015, he has taught or assisted in 23 hunter education classes.

In addition to teaching hunter education Ed is a Reservist for the department. He has clocked in over 120 hours just last year volunteering his time with habitat plantings, water readings at the WMA’s, helped with the fishing trailer and the TIC program and many other projects.

Our 2017 Reservist of the year award went to Bob Trischler.

Bob put in 226 hours of volunteer time with the department during 2017. Bob is the person that releases pheasants out on the Niagara Spring WMA from late September to the end of December each year.

He has quite a fun time when he goes down to release pheasants and he actually went down there 26 times to release pheasants in 2017.

Bob also helped with the Youth Pheasant Clinic. He also he does our water readings at the Hagerman and Niagara WMA. This is a weekly project has to be done once a week all year long.

Ed Hartman and Bob Trischler are great examples of individuals that have a love for our community, the local habitat, the wildlife and supporting future generations of sportsman.
