Upper Salmon River weekly steelhead report (11/06/17)

Steelhead angler effort downstream of North Fork was similar to what was observed during the previous week, while effort upstream of North Fork in location code 16 decreased. Angler effort upstream of Salmon remained low with only a few anglers observed over the weekend. Interviewed anglers downstream of the Middle Fork in location code 14 averaged 31 hours per steelhead caught or kept. Upstream of the Middle Fork in location code 15, interviewed anglers averaged 24 hours per steelhead caught and 51 hours per steelhead kept. Upstream of North Fork in location code 16, interviewed anglers averaged 48 hours per steelhead caught and 167 hours per steelhead kept. Check the Harvest Report for more details

Currently, the Salmon River is flowing at 1,770 cfs through the town of Salmon, ID which is 134% of average for today’s date. Over the weekend, the river’s temperature dropped to near 40° F with cloudy visibility.  . - Brent Beller, Fisheries Technician II, Salmon Region
