When you talk about angling in Idaho, most people automatically think: rainbow  trout, cutthroat (State fish), majestic Chinook Salmon, steelhead or the hardy sockeye.  Only a select few will mention bass.  These are probably the most dedicated anglers who don't want their secret revealed to others in the bass fishing community.

Recently, Bassmaster magazine released their 100 best bass lakes in the U.S. and 5 of those waters are in Idaho.  Dworshak Reservoir, Brownlee Reservoir, Lake Coeur d'Alene, C.J. Strike Reservoir and the Snake River below Hells Canyon Dam were all recognized in the publication for outstanding bass fishing and size of fish.

One Idaho bass angler told me "that we go to great lengths to keep our bass fisheries a secret from the rest of the nation."  Matter of fact, most Idaho anglers refer to our jet boats - which are the primary fishing craft in Idaho, as "a bass boat on steroids."
