Ask Fish and Game: Grouse permits

idfg-mdemick
Q. Do I need a permit to hunt grouse? A. It depends. No permit, other than a valid hunting license, is required to hunt forest grouse, including blue, ruffed and spruce grouse. However, hunters need a permit to hunt sage-grouse and sharp-tailed grouse. The sage/sharp-tailed grouse permit validation costs $4.75 and is available from all license vendors, by calling 1-800-554-8685, or online at Fish and Game's website.
