Want to try your hand at fishing, but don't know if you would enjoy it? Well, Saturday, June 13 is Free Fishing Day and your day to try it. Once a year, anyone can fish in Idaho without a fishing license. "Keep in mind that all fishing rules still apply so please check the regulations before fishing," said Doug Megargle, Magic Valley Region Fishery Manager. "We invite everyone to try fishing our local lakes or streams. "Ponds, lakes, reservoirs and streams have been stocked and the weather looks good, so take a break from the chores and take the family fishing," he continued. "We want everyone to get out and enjoy the great fishing resources we have in the Magic Valley Region. We are hoping Free Fishing Day sparks an interest in people and gets them more interested in fishing and enjoying the outdoors." To help first time anglers, three events in the Magic Valley have been set up with staff on-hand with fishing gear to loan to help get people started. There will be a limited number of fishing rods for folks to borrow at each of these locations. The events include: - Hagerman Wildlife Management Area at the State Fish Hatchery in Hagerman, the event goes from 9am to 3 pm. Hotdogs and drinks will be served to interested participants, door prizes, a fish cooking station, and fish printing art work, are just a few of the activities offered. - Gravers Lagoon at the Hayspur Fish Hatchery goes from 8 am to noon with hotdogs for participants. - Rocky's Pond in Murtaugh, a _ mile east of the Murtaugh LDS church, then go south a _ mile, goes from 8 am to noon.
