Renovation Work to begin at Emmett's Sawyers Ponds

idfg-mdemick
Both residents and users of Fish and Game's Sawyers Ponds in Emmett will soon enjoy the benefits of a three-week-long renovation project at the popular fishing hole. Beginning the week of May 11th, some features will be upgraded and new ones added; pond visitors may find portions of the area closed to public access during construction. Sawyers warmwater residents - largemouth bass and bluegill - will enjoy new gravel spawning beds constructed at key locations, while visitors enjoy the benefits of a new boat ramp and dock assembly at the area's northeast corner. All of Sawyers' existing docks will be renovated with new decking and floats, and all three ponds will be connected as crews breach the narrow dikes that currently isolate the three ponds making up the Sawyers Ponds complex. If the project goes as scheduled, all improvements to the new Sawyers "Pond" should be completed by June 1st. For more information regarding the project, please call Fish and Game's Nampa office at 465-8465.
