The Idaho Fish and Game Commission, during a telephone conference call Thursday, April 2, approved adjusting the current 2014-2015 mountain lion and black bear take season dates in Units 21, 27, and 28 to match the respective take season dates they set for the 2015 and 2016 seasons at their March meeting. The 2015 spring black bear take season in these units is April 1 through June 30, while the 2015 mountain lion take season is August 30 through June 30, 2016. In addition, the Commission approved the use of electronic calls and two mountain lion tags and two black bear tags in those portions of Units 21 and 28 within designated wilderness during the current spring 2015 season. The Commission also added Units 4 and 4A, and parts of Units 21 and 28 in designated wilderness, to the list of units for which discounted nonresident mountain lion and black bear tags are valid. Discounted nonresident mountain lion and black bear tags cost $41.75 and are available for use only in Units 4, 4A, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 16A, 17, 19, 20, 20A, 26, 27, that portion of Unit 16 north of the Selway River, and those portions of Units 21 and 28 within designated wilderness. The acquisition of 0.4 acres of private land adjacent to Deyo Reservoir in Clearwater County by adjustment of property boundaries was also approved. The purchase will provide for better management of Deyo Reservoir and continued public access if the private property changes ownership.
