idfg-sliebenthal
Hunters interested in bidding for the ultimate bighorn sheep hunt can attend the Wild Sheep Foundation Banquet and Auction in Reno from January 8-10, or bid online beginning January 10 at 8 p.m. MDT. Online bids will be taken at http://bid.wildsheepfoundation.org/IDAHO-BIGHORN-SHEEP-PERMIT-INCLUDING… This permit is valid for use in all open bighorn sheep hunt areas throughout Idaho, including Hunt Area 11; Hells Canyon. The online bidding is part of the National Wild Sheep Foundation's annual convention and auction in Reno, Nevada. Last year's convention broke records, raising more than $3.5 million for state, provincial and tribal agencies and their wildlife conservation initiatives. The money from Idaho's tag goes towards research and management of bighorn sheep along the Salmon River and in Hells Canyon. The funds are also used to leverage matching funds from the federal government. Idaho is home to both Rocky Mountain and California bighorn sheep herds. For information about the Idaho Bighorn Sheep Permit, please contact the Idaho Department of Fish and Game at 208-334-3700, or contact Wildlife Staff Biologist, Hollie Miyasaki at 208-535-8016.
