Q. When can I apply for controlled hunts this year? A. The time to think about choices for 2011 controlled hunts is fast approaching. Applications for moose, mountain goat and bighorn controlled hunts are accepted April 1 through April 30. Applications for elk, deer, pronghorn and fall black bear controlled hunts are accepted from May 1 through June 5. But the big game brochures won't be available until early April. Hunters need a 2011 Idaho hunting license to apply. The drawings for spring turkey and black bear are over.
