Chronic Wasting Disease - Sample Focus Areas

Idaho Fish and Game has a CWD strategy and monitoring efforts.

Areas close to states with known CWD cases will be sampled every year and other areas in Idaho on a rotational basis. Hunting units are grouped into our CWD sampling areas.

View the map below to see focused sampling areas for 2022-2023. Hunters who harvest deer or elk in these areas are encouraged to provide Fish and Game with samples from their harvested animal. If you harvest a deer outside sampling areas or elk from anywhere in the state, we will be happy to take and submit samples from your animal.
