1989 June 10: After playing an alarm call, the head of an adult goshawk is observed sticking over the edge of the nest. She watches but remains silent. During the following week, Dave Carlson, forest technician D-4, also sees an adult on the nest. 24 June 1989: No birds seen on the nest or in the area. A little whitewash is apparent under the nest but no fresh prey items are found. 1989 July 22: No birds are seen in the area. A few spots of fresh whitewash is found under the nest and under a snag 300 ft north of the nest. The lodgepole stand adjacent to the nest was searched but no other nest tree or prey items were found. 1989 October 7: No birds seen in the area.
