Abstract:

This article is a state journal archiving observations of Regional vagrancy patterns, migration timing, population fluctuations, and range changes of birds in Idaho and Western Montana. In 1997, mild weather, lingering migrants, and occasional vagrants were noted. Red-shouldered Hawks, Sabine's Gulls and Blue Jays were of particular interest. Overall, it appeared that local breeders were slow to depart and northern winters to arrive.
