This report summarizes the preliminary findings on the first year of a three-year study assessing threatened and endangered (T&E) molluscs (T&E snails) living within the Snake River in Idaho. The initial research took place from April 1995 through December 1995. A synoptic survey in 9 river miles was carried out to establish and update the identity and location of macroinvertebrates and the listed molluscs. After identifying the most viable collection method, the researchers documented the number and sizes of individual molluscs and gathered water physical chemistry data. All samples were obtained in compliance with section 10 Permit #PRT-799558, pursuant to consultation with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
