Abstract:

Pallid bats (Antrozous pallidus) are widely distributed throughout western North America, including eastern and southwestern Oregon and central-eastern Washington (Verts and Carraway 1998, Johnson and Cassidy 1997). However, they are considered rare and vulnerable regionally (see Management Status subsection). Historic and current records indicate a possible range reduction in the past 50 to 100 years, particularly in western Oregon. The goal of this conservation assessment is to summarize existing knowledge across the range of the species to better inform management of pallid bats and their habitats in Washington and Oregon. Sections include Classification and Description, Biology and Ecology, Conservation, and Inventory, Monitoring, and Research Opportunities.
