Abstract:

The authors developed 10 polymorphic microsatellite loci for the pygmy rabbit (Brachylagus idahoensis). Nine of the 10 loci amplified reliably and had a low frequency of null alleles. Number of alleles per locus ranged from 4 to 12, and observed and expected heterozygosities ranged from 0.26 to 0.89 and from 0.63 to 0.88, respectively. These loci will be useful in determining population genetic structure and assessing patterns of gene flow in the pygmy rabbit.

[Note: "Permanent Genetic Resources" appears in front of a colon in front of several (many?) articles through years of this journal. I don't know whether this is a section of the journal or whether certain articles are merely marked for the Permanent Genetic Resources database. In any case, it doesn't seem to be included in the title when cited by the few references I checked that cited this article. So I'm putting "Permanent Genetic Resources" in a section field here and not in the title field. ---PJP]
