Abstract:

The northern bog lemming (Synaptomys borealis Richardson) attains a southern limit of its range within the state of Washington, being reported from two localities – Mount Baker and northern Pend Oreille County. Lauckhart did not include the bog lemming as rare for the state; nevertheless, the apparent small number of the voles and their extremely localized and limited habitat warrant them this status in Washington.
