Field guide to Eriogonum and related genera in Idaho

Abstract:

This manual accounts for the known eriogonoid members of the knotweed family Polygonaceae found in Idaho without reference to other regions of the New World where members are known to occur. The descriptions, however, are to the taxon no matter where they occur; the same is true of the elevation and flowering statements. More details may be found in Hitchcock and Cronquist (1973) and two works by Reveal (2005, 2012). The circumscription of the three genera presented here is as done traditionally although taxonomically this is not correct and a major revision of all genera is required. Eriogonum itself could be expanded to include some 325 species or reduced to just 42 species. As of yet an exact circumscription of the genera is not yet established.
