Abstract:

Idaho Power Co. and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are close to reaching an agreement that would allow five Snake River hydropower plants to get relicensed and continue operating with operating endangered aquatic snails. The agreement will spell out a variety of operational changes, conservation measures and studies that Idaho Power will do in the coming years in the hopes of protecting the tiny snails from further harm, according to the federal agency and the company. The wildlife service has promised to deliver the agreement to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by Feb. 2, according to the FERC.
