Abstract:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) announces a 12-month finding on petitions to list the greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus), both rangewide and the Columbia Basin population, as an endangered or threatened species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (Act). After review of the best available scientific and commercial information, the Service finds that the Columbia Basin population does not qualify as a distinct population segment. In addition, the Service finds that listing the greater sage-grouse is not warranted at this time. However, the Service asks the public to submit to the agency any new information that becomes available concerning the threats to the greater sage-grouse or its habitat at any time.
