Abstract:

This conservation assessment provides information on the biology and ecology of the Coeur d'Alene salamander (Plethodon idahoensis), including its range and distribution, life history, and habitat use. Potential threats to the species are discussed, and management guidelines are suggested regarding timber harvest, road and trail construction, fire, water diversions, water management, and chemical applications. The authors list research needs regarding the species and propose monitoring schedules and methodologies to aid the design and implementation of more sound management practices.
