Abstract:

This paper assesses monarch butterfly and milkweed populations in the western states of Idaho and Washington. The two-year study (2016-2017) discusses insight into monarch breeding habitat distribution, characteristics, and threat factors within the two states. Management recommendations and research goals are suggested to address stressors and knowledge gaps in Idaho and Washington to conserve monarchs and their habitats in the West.
