Abstract:

The 1994 annual breeding bird survey at the Craters of the Moon National Monument documents a total of 323 individual birds of 55 species. Examining the data for the priority vegetation types (VT's), the total number of individual birds decreased by half, species richness remained approximately the same, and the Shannon-Weaver Diversity Index decreased to it's lowest value in all the years of the census.
