Abstract:

The 1993 annual breeding bird survey at the Craters of the Moon National Monument documents a total of 566 individual birds of 56 species. This year a new method was instituted to evaluate the competency of bird observers. Therefore, exact comparison of earlier data is difficult. Favorable weather condition may have contributed to the positive counts in species diversity and richness.
