Volume 2, Part B: Subclass Dilleniidae

INTRODUCTION: Volume 2, Part B, of Intermountain Flora, treating the subclass Dilleniidae, is the seventh part to be published, following volumes 1, 6, 4, 3B, 5, and 3A. Included in this volume are 17 families, 119 genera, 464 species, and numerous varieties. <br>

Volume 2B has been written by Noel H. Holmgren, Patricia K. Holmgren, and Arthur Cronquist. Family treatments drafted by Cronquist before his death in 1992 have been substantially revised by the Holmgrens (Cleomaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Ericaceae, Loasaceae, Resedaceae, and Tamaricaceae) and Robert D. Dorn (Salicaceae). <br>

Species that occur in the Pacific Northwest as well as in the Intermountain region are here illustrated mostly by drawings prepared by Jeanne R. Janish and published in Vascular Plants of the Pacific Northwest (Univ. Wash. Publ. Biol. 17. 1955—1969). These drawings are reproduced with permission from the University of Washington Press. All other species are illustrated by new drawings by Bobbi Angell and Laura Vogel.
