Abstract:

The primary vegetation measurements methods used by Army Installations are presented in the following table. Major vegetation attributes measured include cover, density, frequency, structure, and biomass. To help evaluate the applicability of each method to different monitoring goals and resource situations, the matrix describes sampling methods and provides information such as intended application, strengths, weakness, and technical references. These method descriptions are intended as a resource for LCTA program managers and others involved in the evaluation and selection of sampling methods. A list of general vegetation sampling references are provided following the references cited in the table.
