Abstract:

This collection of pages consists of two tables, one also having a glossary sheet, of data collected/interpreted during sound recordings made in February and March 2014 at Redfish Cave, Idaho, as part of a study to design stationary and mobile systems that can be used for bat echolocation monitoring. One table, "Species determinations for bats recorded at Redfish Cave 2014," shows notes taken from the stationary (passive) system deployed within the cave (using Wildlife Acoustics SM2BAT+ Songmeter). After initial set up and testing, 11 files were recorded between Feb 26 and Mar 23, 9 being of bats but mostly consisting of fragments. Data for the 11 recordings included date, whether bats were observed, what type of sound was recorded OR something about the terrain, possible bat identification, the quality of sound, frequency (KHz, of bat call), comments about the sound such as whether "fragments" [in a call sequence and so preventing accurate identification], and other species possibilities. Another table of no title appears to be Figure 8 from Petterson's report of the work, "Design and deployment of two bat echolocation monitoring systems: passive and mobile" (see U14PET01IDUS). These notes pertain to the mobile monitoring set up (using ANABAT SD2 recorder) on Mar 24 along Hells Canyon Road after suitable survey sites had already been scoped out. For each mobile site, besides the information that is depicted in Figure 8 of the report, this table contains a Comments column that adds additional information about the location.

Our folder contains two files that are related to the work that produced Petterson's report entitled Design and deployment of two bat echolocation monitoring systems: passive and mobile (U14PET01IDUS):
1. Species ID_Redfish (xlsx): "Species determination for bats recorded at Redfish Cave 2014" (which shows date, whether bats were observed, what type of sound was recorded OR something about the terrain, possible bat identification for some of the sounds, quality of sound, frequency (MHz, of bat call), comments about the sound such as whether "fragments" (fragments of a call sequence and so preventing accurate identification), and other species possibilities.
2. Waypoints_032514_Redfish (xls): appears to be Figure 2 of U14PET01IDUS (which shows waypoints for echolocution study, their latitude/longitude, the icon on the map in the report for each waypoint, features at the points, bat use there, and, unlike Figure 2 of the report, a comment about each of many of the points (such as location in relation to dam, a park, cliffs, etc.).
