Abstract:

The Boise Airport is seeking Federal funds to develop additional runways south of its present facilities, and a rare plant inventory is required. The habitat is suitable for Lepidium papilliferum, an Idaho endemic, found only in small-scale white clay openings called slick spots, mainly with sagebrush along the Snake River Plains. Lepidium papilliferum is a Candidate Plant Species as determined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the majority of its historical habitat converted to agricultural use, or frequent fires have fragmented its remaining habitat. <br> A survey was conducted to document the presence or absence of Lepidium papilliferum and its potential habitat in designated portions ofT3N R2E Sec. 33, 34 and T2N R2E Sec. 3, 4, of Boise South Quadrangle (U.S.G.S. Quadrangle maps, 7.5 minute series, topographic, scale 1:24000 ), south of the Boise Airport. The parcel size is about 600 acres.
